We could post about all of the awesome new toys we have in, but we'd rather dedicate this space to an even better cause...

As many of you know, Landis' Labyrinth Toy Shop has a location in Manhattan Beach, CA.  We've been there for almost a year now, and we've been so thankful for the warm reception we've received from the community.  We truly feel like a part of the South Bay family now, and as such, we want to support our family in as many ways as we possibly can.  This Saturday, 10% of our sales FROM BOTH SHOPS will go to Paddle for Daisy, a charity set up to help Daisy Merrick's family pay for her cancer treatment costs not covered by insurance.  In case you're wondering, that's about $500,000.00!  We want to do our part to give this little girl hope that her 3rd time battling cancer will be her last, and that she too can visit shops like ours for many, many years to come.  So please, if you're at either our Manhattan Beach or Larchmont/Hancock Park shops this Saturday, keep in mind that your purchases will go towards helping Daisy and her family.  And if you aren't, please still keep in mind that you can make a donation towards her fund at http://www.paddlefordaisy.com/.  Thank you for supporting both your local businesses AND your neighbors :)

Check out the Buzz on us!

If you haven't heard of Larchmont Buzz yet, and you live in the Hancock Park area, consider this your chance to acquaint yourselves with them.  Filled with great local interviews and advice on places to visit in the area, Larchmont Buzz is a must-read for anyone interested in the goings-on of the neighborhood!  And we even have an article about us up on their website right now, http://www.larchmontbuzz.com/larchmont-village-people/theres-a-toy-story-too-on-larchmont/.  So check it out, and please, leave comments... we want to know what you all think and also any suggestions you may have on how we can make your shopping experience with us even better :)

Fun times at the Los Angeles Gift Show!

And by fun times, I mean a week's worth of scouring through all of the goodies available to bring you only the best items for the next few months.  We're so happy that you all have been giving us your feedback and suggestions for new products, and we hope that you'll be happy with what we've found for you!  One of the biggest surprises was how many people suggested bringing in more 'tween'/teen stuff, and we found some great items to fit that category.  I don't want to give all of our secrets away, but expect to see more jewelry for that age range (we found an amazing new line that we love and are very excited about), as well as tons of body care items that are made in the U.S.A.   And yes, we did test them out beforehand to make sure that they are good.  It's a tough job!  We're trying out a lot of new lines and categories in anticipation of our second Larchmont location opening in October.  The latest update on the expansion is that construction will begin mid-August and we're shooting for October 1st as our opening day.  And we will have a celebration complete with prizes and raffles and whatever else we can think of to properly reintroduce ourselves to the neighborhood!  On another neighborhood note, we're sad to see that The Little Seed has outgrown its spot on Larchmont and is branching out to be a web-only shop at the end of August.  They've been great neighbors, and we'll do our best to try and fill in some of the gap they'll be leaving behind with more baby/eco items.  We also have a ridiculous amount of art supplies/projects coming in over the next few months, and we will be making a serious Melissa & Doug section in the new addition to satisfy all of you fans of one of our favorite brands.  So stay tuned and we'll let you know when the new items come in.
